Navjeevan Hostel

Navjeevan School offers hostel facilities to both boys and girls which belong to very poor families or come from far off villages. Generally all children in the hostel are differently able.

Mission

Our mission is to integrate the children with Hearing impairment in to mainstream schools so that they can claim their rightful place as equal citizen in future and return contribution to our society.

Vision

Empowering hearing impairment to use their innate capacities to reach an optimum level of independence both personally and professionally, thus transforming them.

Outreach services:Through our outreach services, we reach out to children of far off villages in surrounding districts of Palghar. Our outreach team examines the children and takes remedial measures for needed audiometric appliances as well as to bring them into the rehabilitation process.

Welcome to our Organization

The establishment process of the center began on the 26th of May 2004, when three SRA sisters established a center in Wada, a backward area of Thane District of that time of Maharashtra. The only major attraction of the area is its marvelous ecology. The population here mainly comprises of tribal and farmers. Since the tribal's do not have land of their own, they work as daily wage laborers on the farmer's lands for paddy cultivation. And during the off seasons i.e. November to April they work at brick kiln sites. It is estimated that 80% of the tribal’s are illiterate which has contributed to a large extent to their exploitation and backwardness.

The main aim of initiating this new mission was to work for the empowerment of the physically and mentally challenged people by adopting a process of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) 'A strategy within general community development for the rehabilitation, equalization of opportunities and social inclusion of all people with disabilities'. And a process implemented through the combined efforts of people with disabilities themselves, their families, organizations and communities, and the relevant governmental and nongovernmental health education, vocational, social and other services.

NAVJEEVAN literally means NEW LIFE. It is a school for the hearing impaired. It was established in 2008. & inaugurated by Bishop Thomas Dabre bishop of Vasai diocese together with the provincial Sr. M. Blessina Tuscano. It was a tiny small beginning with a 6 students. Now the number of the students have increased and are reached up to 30 and we continue to give the rehabilitation service to all those who are in need of education. We have machines like Audiometer, speech trainer and other in our school.

We provide formal education to children from kinder garden to 7th standard. Students follow the normal co-curricular academics as designed by the Maharashtra Govt. After completing 7th standard they take admission in other School up to 10th.

Special Education:

We provide special education mainly for the children with hearing impaired.

These children are taught in either functional academic group or self-help group.

Especially special trained teachers take care of these children. Who whenever possible is integrated into the mainstream of the school and society.
